Pros and cons
What Zendesk does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- True omnichannel: email, chat, voice, messaging unified.
- Native AI Agents for automated customer resolution.
- Detailed analytics and reporting.
- Vast integration ecosystem (1000+).
- Scales from small to very large teams.
Cons
- No free tier.
- Support Team very limited (email-only).
- Per-agent pricing scales quickly with team size.
- AI add-ons (Copilot) cost extra on top of base price.
Zendesk: when it makes sense.
Zendesk is ideal for multi-channel customer support at scale; for email-only and low volume, lighter tools (Help Scout, Freshdesk) fit better.
Keep if
You have significant support ticket volume.. You need multi-channel support (email, chat, voice).
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€19) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You want a free tool.. Your volume is very low (< 1–2 agents).
- You use it less than once a month
- A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do
