Pros and cons
What Lumion does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Fast, very cinematic archviz rendering (atmosphere, weather, landscapes)
- Huge asset library (vegetation, people, effects)
- Imports from SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, ArchiCAD (LiveSync)
- Beautiful images without technical render expertise
Cons
- Expensive: Standard ~$499/year, Pro ~$999/year
- Redundant if you already have Enscape or D5 Render
- Twinmotion offers near-comparable quality for free (under $1M)
- Requires a powerful GPU
Lumion: when it makes sense.
Excellent for cinematic, atmospheric archviz. Pricier than Enscape/D5; compare if budget matters.
Keep if
You do archviz and want cinematic renders with atmosphere, landscapes and weather. You want a huge ready-to-use asset library
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€42) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You already have Enscape or D5 Render: heavy overlap on archviz rendering. Your budget is tight: D5 Render and Twinmotion (free under $1M) are cheaper
- You use it less than once a month
- blender (free) already covers the essentials for occasional use
