    Our take

    Understanding Granola.

Granola is a macOS app that runs in the background during your meetings (Zoom, Meet, Teams or in-person) and automatically enriches your rough notes with the full transcription and an AI-structured summary. You jot down a few keywords, Granola fills in the rest.

The Business plan at $14/user/month (≈€12.88) gives access to unlimited meeting history, advanced AI models and integrations (Notion, Slack, etc.). The free version includes the last 30 days of history.

Key difference from Fathom or Otter.ai: Granola doesn't join the meeting as a bot — it captures sound directly from your machine, without other participants knowing. For sensitive meetings where you can't add a visible bot, this is a decisive advantage. $125M raise in March 2026 at $1.5B valuation.

    Practical uses

    • Record meetings for free.
    • Build knowledge base (historicized notes).
    • Link action items to Notion tasks.

    Pros and cons

What Granola does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.

    Pros

    • Generous free tier, unlimited meetings.
    • Device audio (no cloud data privacy).
    • Transparent, fair pricing.
    • Seamless Notion/Slack integration.

    Cons

    • Free history capped at 30 days.
    • No native CRM integration (HubSpot ok).
    • Less mature support than Fathom.

    Granola: when it makes sense.

Granola excels for Notion teams; for Salesforce/sales teams, Fathom is better.

    Keep if

You want free AI meeting notes.. You like device audio (privacy).

    Granola becomes worthwhile when
    • You use it at least once a week
    • The monthly cost (€13) is small next to the time it saves you

    Challenge if

You need unlimited history for free.. You used Fathom (CRM-deep).

    Granola becomes too expensive when
    • You use it less than once a month
    • A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do

    Our verdict on Granola.

    Why this verdict

    Decent

Granola is fairly easy to replace with an alternative, a free tier to test before paying, clearly documented use cases.
