Pros and cons
What Linear does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Ultra-fast and minimalist interface
- Keyboard shortcuts to do everything without a mouse
- Native GitHub/GitLab integration
- Simple and efficient Cycles (sprints)
- Free for up to 250 issues
Cons
- Fewer features than Jira (no Gantt charts, limited roadmaps)
- Learning curve to master shortcuts
- Less suitable for non-tech projects
Linear: when it makes sense.
As soon as you have a tech side-project or work with developers.
Keep if
You develop software. You hate Jira's slowness
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€9) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You are not in tech. You want complex Gantt views (Notion is better)
- You use it less than once a month
- A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do
