Pros and cons
What Box does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Among the most advanced security and compliance controls in the category
- Centralized document management that reduces version confusion and scattered files
- Deep Microsoft 365 integration to edit without leaving Box
Cons
- Interface that can feel cluttered with so many enterprise features
- Performance can slow down on very large folders
- Cost adds up quickly with advanced security features
Box: when it makes sense.
Worth it for an organization of 5 to 5,000 people with real compliance needs.
Keep if
Your organization handles sensitive documents requiring advanced security controls. You're already in the Microsoft 365 or Salesforce ecosystem
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€7) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You want simple storage for personal or small-team use — Dropbox is simpler. Budget doesn't justify compliance features you won't use
- You use it less than once a month
- A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do
