    Asana's billing traps

    The 2-seat minimum trap

    Asana offers no paid plan for a single solo user. The Starter plan ($10.99/user/month) requires a 2-seat minimum purchase — $21.98/month in real terms to get started, even alone.

    The purchase banding rule

    Above 5 users, seats aren't sold individually: Asana enforces 5-seat increments up to 30 users, then 10-seat increments up to 100. A 6-person team is therefore billed for 10 seats by default.

    The invisible automation cap (rule actions)

    The Starter plan lets you create unlimited rules, but caps their execution at 250 actions per month for the entire workspace. A small team burns through that quota in days, forcing an early upgrade to Advanced ($24.99/user/month, 25,000 actions).

    The free plan restriction (Personal)

    Since November 12, 2025, the free Personal plan is capped at 2 users (down from 10) for any new account. Only accounts created before that date keep the old 10-collaborator ceiling (legacy).
