Pros and cons
What Animation Composer 3 does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Native integration: After Effects + Premiere Pro in one subscription.
- Limited free version to get started.
- Preset library easily extends and shares.
- Part of the Mister Horse ecosystem (other motion design tools).
Cons
- Recurring subscription (no perpetual purchase).
- Animation Composer 3 discontinued as standalone (forces full subscription).
- Advanced features limited to paid tier.
- Free version capped at 500 library items (can be restrictive).
Animation Composer 3: when it makes sense.
Animation Composer justifies the Mister Horse subscription mainly if you also use Premiere Pro and like working with reusable preset workflows.
Keep if
You want to organize and speed up your After Effects animation workflow.. You work in both Premiere Pro and After Effects (one subscription covers both).
Challenge if
You only work in After Effects and don't need other Mister Horse tools.. You prefer a one-time perpetual purchase (product no longer sold individually).
