Pros and cons
What The Design Futurist does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- 3D effects and animations hard to reproduce without technical skills.
- Free components to judge quality first.
- Broad coverage: navigation, backgrounds, typography, cards.
- Drop into an existing Framer project without rebuilding.
Cons
- Assumes an active Framer subscription, without which nothing is usable.
- WebGL and Three.js effects weigh on performance and accessibility.
- Opaque pricing: amounts are not shown on the overview page.
The Design Futurist: when it makes sense.
These components make sense on a showcase site or portfolio where visual impact carries the pitch. On a content-first site they weigh the page down for nothing.
Keep if
You're building a Framer site that has to stand out visually.. You want 3D or advanced animation without writing WebGL.
Challenge if
You don't use Framer — these components work nowhere else.. Your site prioritises restraint and load speed above all.
