Pros and cons
What Sketch does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Lightweight and fast interface, built specifically for macOS
- Still-active plugin ecosystem for specific needs
- License purchase option available, not subscription-only
Cons
- Mac only — no native Windows or web version
- Real-time collaboration less smooth than Figma
- Losing ground in adoption to Figma, especially among new teams
Sketch: when it makes sense.
Consistent for a team already invested; for a new project, Figma is the default choice today.
Keep if
Your team is already on Sketch with an established design system. You work exclusively on Mac with no need for cross-platform collaboration
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€11) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You're starting a new project or team — Figma has become the standard. You need to easily collaborate with Windows users or online
- You use it less than once a month
- A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do
