- Compatible with major 3D software.
- Fine control of materials and lighting.
- Included in the Maxon One bundle.
Cons
- Requires a capable GPU.
- Subscription model.
- Learning curve to optimize it.
Redshift: when it makes sense.
Redshift is the pick for fast GPU rendering in 3D production; for occasional use or without a dedicated GPU, a built-in engine fits better.
Keep if
You do 3D rendering and want GPU speed.. You work in C4D, Maya, Houdini or 3ds Max.
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€45) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You don't have a GPU suited to rendering.. A free built-in renderer is enough for you.
- You use it less than once a month
- blender (free) already covers the essentials for occasional use
