Pros and cons
What Hootsuite does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Brand recognition useful for agencies pitching enterprise clients
- Customizable PDF reports, more advanced than Buffer or Later for client reporting
- Competitive monitoring (benchmark vs 5 competitors) included from the Professional plan
Cons
- No free plan, starts at ~$99/month minimum
- Interface seen as cluttered by many 2026 reviews, real learning curve
- Price hard to justify for a small team that just needs scheduling — Buffer costs a fraction of the price
Hootsuite: when it makes sense.
Worth it for agencies and mid-market teams; for simple use, Buffer or Later cost a fraction of the price.
Keep if
You're an agency needing client reporting and competitive monitoring. You manage several social accounts for multiple clients or brands
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€15) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You just need to schedule posts for one or two accounts — Buffer is much cheaper. Your budget doesn't allow starting at $99/month
- You use it less than once a month
- A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do
