Pros and cons
What Flow (aescripts) does especially well — and the limits to anticipate.
Pros
- Interface far more intuitive than After Effects' native Graph Editor.
- Preset library for in-house animation standards.
- Accelerates professional animation workflow.
- Collaboration from highly respected creators.
Cons
- Requires understanding of easing curves to be useful.
- Paid (unless you prefer AE's native Graph Editor).
- Limited to interpolation curves only (no other animation controls).
Flow (aescripts): when it makes sense.
Flow makes sense for animators constantly refining easing curves; for beginners or occasional animation, AE's native tool may suffice.
Keep if
You spend significant time refining animations and easing curves in After Effects.. You need consistent animation styles reused across projects.
- You use it at least once a week
- The monthly cost (€8) is small next to the time it saves you
Challenge if
You're new to animation and easing curves aren't relevant yet.. You want free After Effects tools.
- You use it less than once a month
- A simple free version or a tool already in your stack would do
